Isn’t it obvious?
Let me put it this way, if you were Andie would you have chosen Blane over Duckie? Character wise, Duckie is infinitely more interesting and he’s a good friend who’s always there. Maybe, in a decade or so, you would regret having chosen Blane over Duckie but let’s talk and think about now. As a teenager, hell, whatever your age is, your choice of lovers would surely be based more on how a person makes you feel. I’m not saying that all of us do but I’m generalizing this. The feelings that person evokes in you could give you the impression that you’re in love and that nothing can change how you feel about that someone.
Believe me, it changes. This is not based on experience but I’ve seen enough to know that for sure.
Anyways, while talking to that person, imaginary and nonexistent neon lights flash in your eyes and you’re blinded and hopelessly infatuated. As you’re being eclipsed, you can no longer think of what’s truly happening.
So where am I getting at? The answer is plain and simple: Andie chose Blane because in spite of everything that’s happened, she’s blind to his countless faults. Granted, Blane felt guilty but is there an assurance that he wouldn’t do that again?
Getting off my high horse: I can’t really say that I won’t be like Andie because when it comes to relationships, I’m clueless. I wrote this because I hope that if the time comes when I made a fool out of myself for someone, reading this would shake me and wake me from my mindless sleep.
Because she only saw Duckie as a friend and Blane is just too hot and romantic for his own good.
Err, so what was that yapping all about?
Oh that? I was just rambling. I’m off to Ilocos. See you in five days.
Love’s a bitch, Duck. Love’s a bitch
